Actions

The minutes of the last meeting – 9th May were approved. Matters arising

Changes to Mass times:

Fr Terence is proposing to change the Sunday Mass at Osmotherley to 6pm. Reasons - there are 4 morning Masses at Crathorne, Osmotherley, Stokesley & Great Ayton; plus there are no other Sunday evening Masses in the area, Saturday afternoon Mass at Lady Chapel.

Sr. Imelda in Albania:

Diane & Colin Gent were thanked for their hospitality at the event on Sunday 9th July. £450 raised and Sr Imelda gave an excellent presentation. Fr. T. presented her with £4k cheque to buy medicines.

Crathorne Church Pictures:

Diane has investigated suitable display boards to exhibit the pictures at the Churches - rather expensive so far.

FH will identify some boards through work

Diocesan Reorganisation:

In the final proposal there is no change for our Parishes. However, the Abbott has to agree yet and it will probably be considered in the Autumn.

Fr T. stated that the Sacramental Programme will be a good starting point for the parishes to work together.

New Council Members:

A number of names were put forward for invitation.

To date Anne Bury from Swainby has agreed to join us.

 Fr T.

Prayers for Vocations.

The Bishop’s model is for urban parishes, so other ideas were discussed. The proposal to say of the rosary once a week alternating between the parish churches did not receive an enthusiastic response.  Fr Edmund feels that we could involve the elderly and housebound, possibly through a newsletter, asking them for prayers, but also using it to keep them in touch with the happenings of the Parish.  It seems that saying the rosary at home will be a suitable option and Fr T. will promote the idea to the Parish in September.

Buildings Workshop:

Keith Barltrop operates a Church Tourism initiative, encouraging better use of church buildings, for evangelisation, linking to local events etc

Fr T. asked us to consider inviting Keith to conduct a workshop here.

Fr T. will book a date.

AOB:

i) Second collections – comments have been made about the number of them in recent weeks, however there will not be any more until Sept.

Fr T stated that they are optional and this is evident by the fluctuating amounts that are collected.

ii) Volunteers are needed to man the shop at the Assumption Pilgrimage

iii)Parish Golf – Peter had some further information and will continue to progress it.
